What's a healthy keyword density?

There's no magic number, but a natural article usually lands your main keyword somewhere around 0.5%–2% density. If a single phrase is showing up at 4%, 5% or higher, your copy probably reads as repetitive — and modern search engines may see it as manipulation rather than relevance.

Density is a diagnostic, not a target. The goal is content that thoroughly and naturally covers a topic, including related terms and synonyms, not content that hits an exact percentage.

How to use this tool

  • Check that your primary keyword actually appears — thin pages often forget to mention the topic enough.
  • Switch to the 2 and 3-word views to find the natural phrases you're using, which can become secondary targets.
  • Watch for any phrase that's wildly over-represented — that's where to add variety.
