HTTPS
The secure, encrypted version of the web protocol that protects data between a visitor and your website.
HTTPS is the secure version of the standard web protocol. The "S" stands for secure, and it means the connection between a visitor and your website is encrypted so that data such as passwords and payment details cannot be easily intercepted.
Beyond security, HTTPS is a confirmed (if lightweight) ranking signal, and browsers now warn visitors with a "Not Secure" label on sites without it, which scares people away. You enable HTTPS by installing an SSL certificate, which is often free and included with modern hosting.
