Search Intent

The underlying goal behind a search query: what the person actually wants to find, do, or buy.

Search intent is the reason behind a search, what the person is genuinely trying to achieve. Two queries can contain the same words but mean very different things, so matching intent is one of the most important parts of modern SEO.

Intent usually falls into a few buckets: people looking for information ("how to unblock a drain"), people comparing options, people ready to buy ("emergency plumber near me"), and people trying to reach a specific website. To rank well, your page must give searchers the kind of content they expect for their intent, not just the right keywords.
