Keyword Density

How often a keyword appears on a page relative to the total word count, expressed as a percentage.

Keyword density is the percentage of times a target keyword appears on a page compared with the total number of words. In the early days of SEO, people tried to hit a magic number, but modern search engines are far more sophisticated and there is no ideal percentage to chase.

The practical advice today is to write naturally for your readers, mention your topic and related terms where they make sense, and avoid "keyword stuffing" (cramming the same phrase in over and over). Stuffing reads badly and can actually harm your rankings rather than help them.
