Hreflang

A tag that tells search engines which language and region a page is meant for, so the right version is shown.

Hreflang is a tag that tells search engines which language and country a particular page is intended for. If you run versions of your site for different regions, for example Australia and the United Kingdom, hreflang helps Google show the right version to the right audience.

It also prevents your regional pages being treated as duplicate content of one another. Most small, single-region Australian businesses will never need hreflang, but it becomes essential once you target multiple countries or languages with similar content on each.
